The CBI program is designed to create opportunities for minority, women, and small business en-terprises (MWSBEs) within the City of Charlotte’s contracting process. Through certification, Ca-tawba Fence LLC gains access to city vendor lists, bid notifications, networking events, and tech-nical support—enabling us to compete fairly and meaningfully for city contracts. These initiatives help drive economic growth, foster job creation, and ensure that businesses like ours have a seat at the table.
In support of these objectives, the City Manager may appoint specialized Goals Committees to ad-vise on setting participation targets for DBEs, SBEs, MBEs, and WBEs on city contracts. These committees, comprised of industry experts, review data on available qualified businesses and pro-vide recommendations to the Program Manager for establishing fair and attainable participation goals. The Program Manager also consults with the Charlotte Business INClusion Advisory Com-mittee as needed when determining these targets. This process ensures that goal-setting is in-formed, equitable, and aligned with the CBI Program’s mission.
